“Souther recasts some of his famous tunes – as stripped-down solo arrangements with a hint of jazz. You’ve heard these songs before, but never like this.” – Parade
Billboard Top 10-artist and Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee JD Souther performs one night only at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts.
Souther is perhaps best known for the songs he wrote and co-wrote for The Eagles — including “Best Of My Love”, “New Kid In Town”, “Heartache Tonight”, “Sad Café”, “Victim Of Love”, and more.
Souther’s own hit, "You're Only Lonely” was #7 on the Billboard Charts, and his duet with James Taylor, “Her Town, Too" hit #11 on the Charts. Souther also recorded several duets with Linda Ronstadt, including "Hasten Down the Wind," "Prisoner in Disguise," "Sometimes You Can't Win", and "Hearts Against the Wind" which was featured in the 1980 film Urban Cowboy.
He has written for and been recorded by Dixie Chicks, Brian Wilson, Raul Malo, Roy Orbison, Bonnie Raitt, Bernadette Peters, and others.
Souther currently appears in the recurring role of country songwriter and producer Watty White in the ABC drama series Nashville.
“Souther is an American songwriting treasure.” – Creative Loafing
